Weetabix "Doctor Who and his Enemies" Tardis

Card. 9.5cm tall approx.

January 2013

In 1975 Weetabix ran their "Dr Who and his Enemies" promotion. There were stand-up cards to collect and six theatre style scenes on the back of the packets to enact many adventures. There was also a Tardis model to be made. I had one of these, and remember throwing it away when it was very battered and more yellowed selotape than the original cardboard time machine.

I always regretted this. So, using images pulled of the internet, and colour photocopies of other packets from the series to work out the scale I have redrawn the model as accurately as I can using photoshop. The net is not the same as the original, my version makes a stronger model.

x2 installations measuring 28cm x 28cm approx.

February 2013

Originally attended to be a large photograph of reproduction roman coins and fosil sharks teeth (see below) these two pieces evolved from discussions with the currator of the exhibition.

Here is my statement which accompanied the piece:

"Searching, always…. The first thing that came to mind when thinking of a piece for this show was something I look for occasionally when walking in the country, or on a beach, something I’ve never found; ancient coins or fossilised Shark’s teeth. These items came to me as gifts so I’m still looking, hoping I’ll find a tooth or a coin myself."
